The law says you must not set off fireworks in the street or other public places. Only ever set off fireworks on your own property or with permission of the property owner, and always check the fireworks packaging for safe firing instructions. As a courtesy it is highly advised that you inform your neighbours of any planned fireworks displays, events or parties. 

In the UK you may only set off fireworks between 7am and 11pm. Except for the following: 

- Bonfire Night (5thNovember), when the cut off is midnight

- New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am

It is illegal to sell fireworks to anyone under the age of 18 in the UK. 

When you light a firework you must always read the guidance on the packaging. This will include a safe distance for you and your audience along with instructions on how to secure it. Each firework will have a fuse that is usually covered by a protective sticker that simply tears off. At Home Delivery Fireworks, we recommend using a portfire / safety lighter but you can use a match or lighter too. Always light the fuse at the very tip. Once it is burning, carefully but quickly return to your guests or to at least the safe distance listed on the packaging. DO NOT return to re-light a firework – it could go off as you approach it. If you have waited several minutes and the firework has a secondary fuse, you may return and light this. Otherwise, the half-burned fuse will be too short and the firework must be disposed of.
